Staff Selection Commission- SSC CGL Exam Details


SSC CGL Exam pattern and Syllabus is main important task for a graduate to know the CGL Syllabus and get a job in government organisation is SSC CGL. Staff Selection Commission provides many opportunities, CGL is one of them . Through cgl we can get into different posts of Group-B and Group-C in different ministries/departments.
Generally, the process will be as follows, the notification will be released in The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam, as preliminary, which is a computer based online exam duration of which is 60 mins. The shortlisted candidates from Tier 1 will be called for Tier 2 which is also a computer-based exam, but the duration is 2 hours. SSC CGL Tier 2 will be conducted for 200 marks.

SSC CGL Tier 3 is of descriptive type for 100 marks and it will be conducted in 60 mins. And Tier 4. Skill Test for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax). The Skill Test will be of qualifying nature.


Negative marks will be 0.5 in CGL Tier 1and In respect of SSC CGL Tier 2 then negative marking system of 0.25 for each wrong answer in paper II (English Language &

Comprehension) of SSC CGL Tier 2 and 0.50 for each wrong answer in Paper-I, Paper III and Paper IV of Tier

In 2017 the notification itself consists of the syllabus. The notable point is in SSC CGL there is no sectional cut-off.

There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks in Paper-II and 0.50 marks in Paper-I, Paper-III, and Paper IV for each wrong answer.

Paper-III is only for those candidates who apply for the post of Statistical Investigator Gr. II & Compiler.

Paper IV is only for those candidates who apply for the post of Assistant Audit Officer.

The marks obtained by the candidates in Tier I & Tier II, together, would determine the eligibility of the candidates to appear in Tier III & Tier IV.

SSC CGL Tier 4 of the Examination would continue to be the Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) /Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).
The exam is qualifying in Nature.
Computer Proficiency Test is for Asst. Section Officer in CSS post only.
